With bumper crops ready to harvest across Australia, many growers need workers now to meet their harvesting demands and continue to provide Australians with a fresh food supply.
This is where the Australian Government’s Harvest Trail Services (HTS) lends a helping hand. It connects employers with workers looking for a job. Workers like Manny.
Harvest work offers many opportunities to gain work experience, find temporary work during study or a gap year, and even develop skills for a career in the Harvest Industry.
Importantly, from 1 November 2020, eligible job seekers may receive financial assistance of up to $2,000 for temporary working visa holders and up to $6,000 for Australians to help with the costs of travel and accommodation when they relocate to take up short-term seasonal harvest or agriculture work.
People looking for work are encouraged to visit the Harvest Trail jobs board to find available harvest work. Jobs can range from picking and packing to tractor driving and supervisory roles. They can search a dynamic map that displays all available harvest jobs by location.
HTS providers are contracted by the Australian Government and there is no cost to employers or job seekers to use their services.
